2018 CADILLAC XTS – REVIEW AND TEST DRIVE

August 15th, 2018 by

The 2018 Cadillac XTS comes in a front or all-wheel drive, six-speed automatic, and a 304-hp V-6 engine. With excellent materials and a big back seat, the 2018 XTS interior is terrific. The CUE system has also improved greatly. The XTS is the car for you if your idea of a Cadillac is a plush-riding luxobarge.

Cadillac XTS generations have seen some massive changes in recent years. Major redesigns occur every five years or so. Nowadays, it’s not easy to spot the changes in-between. The 2018 Cadillac XTS comes with a plush interior, a powerful engine, and it’s more affordable than its competitors. It’s a competent and relatively affordable retirement cruiser. However, the new XTS can’t compete with the best vehicles in the retirement cruisers category.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior, Cadillac has done a good job in steering the brand to the right direction. The exterior is slightly different from the 2017 model; the details are new. Although the outside styling is revised, the profile hasn’t changed. The 2018 model comes with a new grille, new LED headlights and taillights, and some other changes in the front and rear end.

The new grille is cleaner and blends well with the chrome trim. The vehicle also comes with new 19 and 20-inch tires to reduce road noise and improve comfort. The new XTS takes you back to the Cadillac golden days with the slight coupé-like curve to the roof flowing into vestigial fins.

Interior

Audi is generally seen as the interior benchmark but the 2018 Cadillac XTS gives it a run for its money. The changes on the interior are subtler – compared to the 2017 model. The cabin is handsome and comfortable, and there are plenty of options to choose from. There are six trims to choose from: XTS, Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum, V-Sport Premium Luxury and V-Sport Platinum.

The gauge cluster is all-glass and reconfigurable. There’s an 8.0-inch wide touchscreen infotainment system installed at the center of the dashboard. The new black and brown scheme on the platinum trim level are particularly pleasing to the eye.

When it comes to performance, the 2018 Cadillac XTS excels at its level. It comes with a standard front wheel drive – all-wheel drive is optional. This massive sedan can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a reasonable 6.8 seconds, thanks to the powerful engine – 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 304 horsepower. The strong engine and sublime ride quality earn points for the 2018 Cadillac XTS
